After being accused of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior by several women early on Thursday, Morgan Freeman has issued a statement, apologizing to anyone that felt uncomfortable. “Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy,” he said. “I apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected — that was never my intent.”
“[Freeman] kept trying to lift up my skirt and asking if I was wearing underwear,” one of the women said.
Freeman has been accused of sexual harassment by a total of 16 people. Eight of these women say they were harassed by the 80-year-old, coming forward to talk about Freeman’s behavior.
