According to Billboard, Kanye’s new studio album, Ye pushed him past Aretha Franklin for the fifth-highest total of top 40 hits on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The publication reports that Kanye’s recent entries has brought his tally to 81, while Aretha has a career sum of 80.
Two of Ye’s songs have debuted in the top 10 of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart: “Yikes” and “All Mine.” According to Billboard, these entries mark the first time Kanye has been featured in the top 10 of the list as the lead artist since 2015.
Artists who have more top 40 entries on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart are Drake (156), Lil Wayne (97), Jay Z (96), and James Brown (91). However, Kanye still has the chance to move up the ranks with the new Kid Cudi and Kanye West joint project, Kids See Ghosts.
Kanye’s eighth studio album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 last week. He earned a total of 208,000 equivalent album units. This means he has joined Eminem and the Beatles as the only acts to earn eight consecutive No. 1 albums.
