Mary J. Blige has secured a starring role in the new horror film, Body Cam. The movie is set to be directed by Malik Vitthal, who previously worked on the 2014 crime drama Imperial Dreams.
The film will be about a group of LAPD officers haunted by “a malevolent spirit that is tied to the murder of a black youth at the hands of two white cops.” The police were caught on body cam footage, but destroyed it to cover-up. Blige will play an officer has visions of the act and decides to find the truth of what happened. This will mark the nine-time Grammy-winner’s first starring role.
The Hollywood Reporter adds that Body Cam is described as a “tonal blend of Get Out and End of Watch.”
