MTV’s Scream is back for a third season and it’s added a major star in Mary J. Blige. She has reportedly been cast in the series for the upcoming season.
Scream season three will be about a star football player whose mysterious past comes back to haunt him, ultimately threatening his friends and family. Blige will reportedly play Sherry Elliott, the mother of lead character Deion Elliott, who is played by RJ Cyler.
Season three will be a six-episode series. the co-executive producer of the show is Queen Latifah and The Vampire Diaries’ Brett Matthews as the showrunner.
This will be Blige’s first acting job since the extremely successful, Mudbound. Blige received two Oscar nominations for Best Supporting Actress and Best Original Song due to Mudbound.
