Vin Rican is back again with the newest Wax Only offering, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Lauryn Hill’s debut album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
Hill’s solo debut, away from her Refugees beginnings, is regarded as one of the most respected and successful female rap albums. Taking the number one spot on Billboard’s albums chart, back in 1998, the album sold over 420,000 copies in its first week. Setting records for this album 20 years ago, Hill’s critically acclaimed and Grammy winning project featured hit singles “Doo Wop (That Thing),” “Ex-Factor,” “Everything Is Everything,” and the lauryn Hill-produced “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You.”
Vin Rican flips through some throwback tracks and classic records that were featured on The Miseducation, including “Boogie Down Productions’ “Superhoe,” Wu-Tang Clan’s “Can It All Be So Simple,” The 5th Dimension’s “Together Let’s Find Love,” and many more.
