Super producer and rapper Swizz Beatz stopped through the KDAY studios to chop it up with Noah Ayala about connecting with DMX early on in his career, creating iconic tracks like the “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem,” shares his production secrets and much more.
Before completing high school, Swizz says that he met DMX before finishing school through his uncle who assisted in managing a few artists. Swizz says:
I knew we was gonna change everything because we was disruptive. We wasn’t accepted at first. People was scared of us. And anytime you’ve got certain elements like that, and then you’ve got the streets behind you, and then it’s authentic… and we wasn’t looking at anything popular.
While Swizz shares a few stories behind some of his biggest hits and collabs that he’s delivered throughout his career, the producer also sheds light on his current project slated to drop before the end of the year. The quality that Swizz has lined up for his forthcoming projects, the “Poison” rapper says that his new album is inspired to face your life’s poisons in order to “poise on.”
Swizz also details why he deiced to have Dreamville rapper J. Cole executive produce his project.
