In a new episode of Genius’ series “The Co-Sign,” ‘Ice Cube went on to talk about newer artists in the hip hop game. While we’ve previously seen other veterans in Fat Joe and Swizz Beatz in the show, Cube can be seen playing as a gatekeeper to some of the west coast’s most promising talents. Some of these artists include the likes of TDE signee Reason, Saweetie, Lil Mosey, and BlueFace.
“If I could give any advice to up-and-coming west coast artists: it’s cool to rep where you from, but don’t let that become a cage.” said Cube. One of the hottest west coast artists on the come up is BlueFace. The West Coast Warlord made his stance in BlueFace’s music quite clear. “I like his confidence. I definitely know this dude can rap,” he says.
The other artists highlighted also get words from Cube. Salute to Genius for helping showcase hip hop veterans talking about the new school.
