Earlier this week, a video of Phoenix police officers drawing their guns at a young couple went viral. Social outrage was almost instant, as it helped cast a negative light against the city’s police department when the couple announced that they were seeking up to $10 million dollars in damages. The video shows the young couple, including a pregnant woman, having guns pointed at them from outside their babysitter’s apartment.
According to BET, Jay-Z is stepping in to help by sharing his legal resources with the couple, for free. This includes the services of his famed attorney Alex Spiro. Spiro gained fame by helping out 21 Savage following his ICE arrest, in that case, Jay also offered his services to 21.
The couple is looking to get $10 million in damages and the termination of the officers, who according to court documents, are accused of domestic battery, unlawful imprisonment, false arrest, and other civil rights violations.
