As we just celebrated the life of the late Aaliyah with her 18th year anniversary of her passing, the singer’s estate has issued a statement asking fans to respect her recently unveiled Madame Tussauds’ wax figure.
Aaliyah’s wax figure had it’s official reveal just last week, during a ceremony held in Vegas where her brother Rashad Haughton celebrated his sister’s ever-lasting impact and legacy. While Tussauds created an unbanning replica, victors to the museum have been caught doing inappropriate things to the figure.
In a tweet posted to the singer’s official social account, the statement urged, “We ask kindly that anyone visiting the Aaliyah wax figure @TussaudsVegas please treat it with respect, this has been a lot of years of hard work by her fans petitioning and her family’s @RAD_6 support ! Below is inappropriate and unacceptable #TeamAaliyah”. Also, in the shared message, the account showed a fan applying lip-gloss to the likeness of Aaliyah, ultimately tampering and possibly damaging the figure.
The wax figure has taken years to come to fruition by fans and family alike, since he singer’s passing back in 2001. The iconic look from her chart topping “Try Again” video is currently receiving praise from fans all around the worked. Take a look at the new figure below.
