Dave East will be releasing a collaborative track with Nas on Friday. The song, titled “Godfather IV”, will be featured on Dave East’s debut album coming out very soon on Def Jam. This isn’t the first time these two have done business together, not forgetting that East first signed to Nas’ Mass Appeal label back in 2014, along with the likes of Bishop Nehru and Run the Jewels. This is destined to be an interesting meeting of the minds between mentor and protege.
Survival, the name of Dave East’s new upcoming album, has been building quite the anticipation this year. In August, East dropped the Survival Pacc – a promo piece for the album came with a song featuring Max B and another featuring Gunna – asserting that we can expect many dope cuts and outstanding features from the Harlem MC. Since then, the Jacquees-featured single, “Alone”, came out earlier this month to positive feedback from fans. Survival officially arrives on November 8th.
“Godfather IV” won’t be the first time East and Nas have done music together. On the Paranoia album that East dropped in 2017, Nas gave him some bars on the 3rd track, “The Hated”, produced by Joe Joe Beats. Then in 2016, they rapped together on the Illmind-produced song, “Wrote My Way Out”, for The Hamilton Mixtape on Atlantic Records. As for right now, we can only play the waiting game until tomorrow to hear the greatness, but we can without a doubt expect them to pull no punches, giving the listeners a proper lead-in to the album.
