Kanye West has never been one to shy away from controversy. Throughout the years Ye’s had his fair share of moments. From his “George Bush doesn’t care about black people” comment to his comments on slavery, West has always found a way to get the people talking.
It wasn’t any different back in 2013, when West’s album was almost named “Thank God For Drugs,” according to former DONDA art director Joe Perez, who reveled this in a recent Instagram post. “3.2.2013 – Pre-Yeezus gif concepts – Round 2,” he captioned the post. “Before naming the album Yeezus, the title was ‘Thank God For Drugs.’”
Perez included GIFs of the design work, with the front cover being relatively similar to the final Yeezus cover. Differences can be seen at the top, as the text is in child-like handwriting. The back case was an image of a man-like figure laying under a pile of prescription pills.
Perez also revealed that the actual name for the Yeezus Tour was originally called the Till Death Do Us Part Tour, featuring Kendrick Lamar.
