The woman behind the inspiration of “Hustlers,” Samantha Barbash, is suing Jennifer Lopez’s production company for $40 million, as TMZ reports. Barbash claims that the producers of the film approached her about signing off on the movie, but ultimately she did not agree.
“They pretty much basically stole my story , I wouldn’t sign my rights away. I wasn’t giving up my TV and film rights for peanuts. JLo doesn’t work for free. Why would I? I’m a businesswoman.”
Barbash’s lawsuit also accuses J Lo’s studio of portraying her in a negative light. She says the film features “ illegal drug use and manufacturing substances in her home where she lived with her child.” She’s now seeking $20 million for compensatory damages and $20 million in punitive damages. She also wants the studio to turn in all the copies of the film.
