The Marathon continues at the Grammys.
Nipsey Hussle’s life was taken in early Spring 2019 after he was gunned down in front of his Marathon clothing store in Los Angeles. Since he entered the industry, the hip-hop community has and will always recognize him as a well respected man and someone who uplifted the power of unity amongst people worldwide. 2018’s Victory Lap marked his official major-label debut, however his catalogue has been well known for many years prior to that.
Through trials and tribulations and with the support of his fans, he earned his first and only Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album in 2018. Now, the Grammys allegedly have plans on paying tribute to the late rapper at the upcoming show. according to Hits Daily Double. The tribute has been described as a “major segment” during the event.
Although it hasn’t been announced publicly, given that the event will take place in the Staples Center, it’s possible the tribute will happen. The location is also the same place where Nipsey’s memorial took place, it could be a way to honor his legacy.
Nipsey Hussle was posthumously nominated for three Grammy awards this year. “Best Rap song” and “Best Rap performance” for the song “Racks in the Middle” featuring Hit-Boy & Roddy Ricch. The third nomination is for Rap/Sung performance for the song “Higher” ft John Legend.
