The upcoming release of Fast & Furious 9 has been postponed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic that has already shuttered sports leagues and tournaments, universities and music festivals.
Variety reports Universal Studios has now moved Fast 9 from its original date of May 22, 2020, to April 2, 2021 in the United States.“We feel all the love and the anticipation you have for the next chapter in our saga,” Diesel said in a statement. “That’s why it’s especially tough to let you know that we have to move the release date of the film. It’s become clear that it won’t be possible for all of our fans around the world to see the film this May.“While we know there is disappointment in having to wait a little while longer, this move is made with the safety of everyone as our foremost consideration,” Diesel concluded.
F9 boasts an ensemble cast featuring Diesel, John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron and Cardi B. With the release date being pushed back hopefully things will get better that way all their fans may watch the movie.
