According to the Washington Informer, legendary rapper Kurtis Blow underwent a heart transplant surgery Sunday, December 6th, in Los Angeles.
Kurtis’ wife told the outlet that his transplant surgery went well and he is now in recovery. “He is out of surgery. Keep the prayers and praises up. God does all things well,” expressed Shirley Stewart in a text message. Blow’s transplant news follows his early 2020 emergency surgery he underwent for a rupture spleen and also adds to the unfortunate list of heart complications he has had after suffering a major heart attack back in 2016.
The “Brakes” icon most recently became the co-founder of the Universal Hip-Hop museum which is set to open its doors in 2023.
We are continuing to send prayers and well wishes to Kurtis and his family as he recovers during this time.
