Last week, Meek Mill found himself facing backlash for what many have called a disrespectful move after a Lil Baby collab leak revealed the Philly rapper referenced the late Kobe Bryant’s passing.
With the internet definitely against him, news has traveled and unfortunately Vanessa Bryant has issued a statement on the tasteless lyrics. Taking to her Instagram story, Vanessa shared Meek’s lyrics with the following message, “Dear @meekmill, I find this line to be extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Period,” Vanessa posted on IG … “I am not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better than this.” Bryant went on to continue, “If you are a fan, fine, there’s a better way to show your admiration for my husband. This lacks respect and tact.”

Moments after Bryant’s post, fans noticed Meek’s Twitter account was updating with more insensitive messages, as if he did not see Vanessa’s message.

I apologized to her in private earlier today not to the public…Nothing I say on my page directed to a internet viral moment or the family of a grieving woman! If you care about someone grieving change the subject!

While Meek cleared up his comments and revealed that he apologized to Vanessa Bryant in public, the move has left a bad taste in many people’s mouth.
