Little Women LA star Tonya Banks checked in with the 935 KDAY Morning show hosts Cece and Romeo to catch up on the projects she’s been working on since the novel 2020 pandemic took over.
Currently promoting her role in the Genius-produced Aretha biopic series, the popular reality star discusses how her long-standing career in entertainment had helped prepare her to tackle her first major film role outside of her usual reality work. As the pandemic hit Los Angeles pretty hard at the beginning of 2020 lock down, Banks explained that while most production had shut down early on for Little Women, the production process for the Genius series started the same day the late Kobe Bryant passed away last January. While Roberts says she didn’t have much experience signing for her portrayal of Sammie Bryant, she dove into research about the late gospel singer to step into her portrayal.
Banks opens up about her relationship with her daughter and also shares her perspective on the viral news that went down with gospel star Kirk Franklin and how to she follows discipline in her home.
Tonya also goes on to speak on her new autobiography It’s Not What You’re Called, It’s What You Answer To’, and what fans can expect from her in the future, which includes a new podcast, and much more.
