Ahead of the late Kobe Bryant’s induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame this weekend, there has been much news surrounding the basketball legend, as his stature continues to be forever immortalized.
Close friend, mentor, and basketball legend himself, Michael Jordan, recently spoke with ESPN and revealed the last text conversation he had with Bryant, which he explains as something he can’t bring himself to delete. Dating just 49 days before the untimely passing of Bryant, Jordan and the lifetime Laker icon praised each other for their current endeavors, as Kobe reveled over MJ’s Tequila brand and Jordan inquired about Bryant coaching his daughter Gianna. In the December 8, 2019 text thread, Kobe wrote: “This tequila is awesome,” He goes on to state, “”Hey, coach, I’m sitting on the bench right now, and we’re blowing this team out. 45-8.” The six-time champion goes on to express to ESPN that was Kobe in a nutshell. “I just love that text because it shows Kobe’s competitive nature.”
