Congratulations are in order as Nelly will be honored at this year’s BET Hip-Hop Awards with the “I Am Hip-Hop” accolade.
The multiple Grammy award-winning rapper has cemented his legacy with a long list of credits, which includes his diamond-certified album ‘Country Grammar,’ which many have regarded as one of the greatest debut albums of all time, so this BET feat is another milestone met for the iconic artist. Nelly will be joining the list of past honorees which include Master P, Lil Wayne, LL Cool J, and Snoop Dogg, as the announcement was made ahead of the show’s October 5th premiere.

BET took to their platforms to reveal Nelly as their selected “I Am Hip-Hop” honoree stating, “This year, we’re honoring hip hop legend, award-winning rapper, actor, trendsetter, and social advocate. The 2021 I Am Hip Hop Award honoree is none other than @Nelly!”
Nelly caught up with Billboard recently and spoke on the recognition, saying, “I am honored to receive this award and humbled to be in such great company of past artists who have received this award. I have been blessed to work with some incredible people in my career, making 22 years go by in the blink of an eye. This award isn’t just about Nelly; it is about my fans, BET, and the people that continue to support me and allow me to do what I love to do.”
