Although Beyoncé and Jay-Z are currently on their On The Run II Tour, they have found time to team up for a scholarship between The BeyGOOD Initiative And The Shawn Carter Foundation.
The scholarship is set to award $100,000 to “one exceptional senior high school student, with financial needs” to use toward their college education, according to the press release. To enter, students will have to “demonstrate academic excellence and show financial needs that would make it hard for them to enter a college or university for the academic year 2018-2019.”
The students selected would also have to be from the cities where the upcoming shows for the On The Run Tour II tour is headed. Some of these cities include: Atlanta, Orlando, Miami, Arlington, New Orleans, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Clara, and Seattle. The Boys and Girls Club of America in the winning cities will decide on who gets the $100,000 in their city. With eleven cities, the couple will give out a total of $1.1 million.
However, this is not the first time the Carters are helping out. Back in April, Beyoncé’s foundation gave a total of $100,000 to four HBCU students under her Beyoncé’s Homecoming Scholars Program. She later partnered with Google to give $25,000 more in scholarships and Jay-Z also has a scholarship fund that helps students cover tuition and other living expenses.
