As Rick Ross officially drops his memoir Hurricanes today, September 3, the Port Of Miami 2 rapper revealed shocking details behind his March 2018 hospitalization and near-death experience.
Last year hip-hop stood still, sending up prayers for the full recovery of the Miami native, who suffered a seizure due to codeine abuse. Ross was rushed to the hospital unresponsive and “slobing at the mouth” at his Florida mansion. Revealing to PEOPLE, that while he didn’t suffer a heart attack his seizure was a life-changing event that gave him a new perspective on life.
When I woke up in the hospital and I had so many people around me, so many homies, it felt like I was in V.I.P. or some shit. But it was more like ‘Damn, we gotta do some special things.
As described to PEOPLE, Ross shared that he had suffered a previous seizure, but this time around he did not come out of it the same, confessing that a girl he was with told a member of his entourage that he had sh*t himself in bed and that was farming at the mouth.
Now, Ross, 43, says he is no longer abusing the prescription opioid medication, he’s cut out sodas, eating more vegetables, and getting more rest.
