It’s always a good moment when rap royalty release new music out to their fans who have followed their decades-long careers. Specifically for both Jay-Z, who once announced his retirement years ago but steadily dropped fire and revealing collars with his wife Beyonce, as well as for Nas who made a big return with his Kanye-produced ‘Nasir’ album and his forthcoming ‘King’s Disease’ effort.
While their beef has been long past the two artists, as they are now extremely prominent in their professional and personal lives, all it takes is for Twitter to point out a few things that will have you second guessing if the beef was ever really settled.
News hit this morning that Pharrell and Jay-Z had linked back up for a surprise collab “Entrepreneur” that is set to be released tonight at midnight. Only “concerning” issue here is that fellow New York native Nas is also slated to release his highly-anticipated album as well. Now, to take it back just a bit, both Hov and Nasty Nas had major beef back in the mid-ninteis and it was the extremely controversial diss track “Ether” that marked the end of the record beef, putting Nasty as the NY champ. In wake of both rappers’ releases, many have come to find suspicion surrounding Jay-Z’s releases post “Ether”, pointing out that they all follow Nas’ project drops.
